Staff are great it’s just the waiting time and no seats.
Mainly because the staff there are wonderful & hard working people, Their professionalism and duty of care was first class, The waiting time to be seen by those same staff is brutal but that is not the fault of the healthcare people who work at the hospital but as everyone knows the fault of central government & underfunding.
Staff attitude ans overall emergency department set up is terrible ans dangerous for patients, poor staff education in triage and streaming as to what conatitues a emergency
No one seemed ro know how dangerous and life threatening a sickle cell crisis could be more so in someone pregnant where there is additional risk to the baby. Sat in waiting room in 10/10 pain for 6 hours asked for pain relief over 6 times yet nothing was done, why is this then an emergency department? Finally got seen and was refused appropriate pain relief even though I had a care plan from my specialist but nobody would listen.
No staff present and dedicated to monitoring the condition of patients in the waiting area which is a potential disaster if someone were to deteriorate or collapse.
Every member of nursing and medical staff were positive and caring
From the moment I was contacted about my FIT test showing blood I was well looked after. Telephone call fully explaining procedure and preparation was detailed and clear. Staff were kind and caring which helped put me at ease. Every detail was explained when I got to hospital and the bowel cancer screening nurse was amazing. Kerry, who carried out my procedure was clear but also very kind in explaining what was happening. The staff in the room all communicated to me well and the staff chatted to me while I went through the procedure. I would like to pass on my gratitude to all of the staff that looked after me. The care I received was nothing short of exceptional.
Yesterday I was taken from the out of hours gps (urgent care) to resus with my heart rate falling into the 40’s after a fainting episode at home followed with sickness. The gps were very good and concerned they requested a bed in the a&e department but as soon as they left me, I was left in my wheelchair and wheeled to wait in the red zone. Despite this lady dr who treat me in a&e was very good to me and didn’t want to discharge me without further investigations that could explain a link between all my conditions and symptoms. So they booked me into the AMU this morning unfortunately the AMU could only refer me onto a cardiologist, but there’s a bigger issue. I’m under 3 consultants in separate departments and my skin reactions, heart rate, digestive problems all can trigger at the same time.. but the consultants rarely communicate with each other which is making my life really difficult especially because no one can tell me the cause of any of my conditions or reasons why I become so poorly! My symptoms began in 2021 it’s now half way through 2024 and I still don’t know what the reason is!!!
Everyone was amazing and couldn’t do enough for you
So many reasons staff all worked so hard always busy but caring at the same time very impressed
Friendly and caring. Even though the unit was very busy you weren’t made to feel hurried and the doctor made you feel relaxed and listened too.
Left in A&E for 3 & half hours only to be told there was a 9 hour wait also six drug addicts shouting and using obscene language only to be ignored by your security personnel. , Nothing wrong with them except one person. After that was looked after by AU team who were outstanding and caring.
