This place changed my life. The surroundings are lovely, very comfortable with all the amenities one would need. The care is exceptional from the very top to the most junior of staff. They have a high set of ethics and really do 'care'. At 81 and 82 (two hips) I was made to feel alive and worthwhile, not like life was in it's twilight but starting all over again. My extraordinary consultant, Mr Jain is a utter professional who has really changed my life from pain and crying everyday to being able to walk my daughter down the aisle next month. He is extremely skilled, but was able to allay my fears, showing great empathy and belief in me. Anyone who has him as a surgeon is extremely lucky. the team from the welcoming receptionists through to the staff on the ward are exceptional. Professional, friendly and always going an extra 100 miles for their patients. From the minute I walked through the door I felt safe, respected and welcomed. This team could offer training to a number of other 'high class' places they are so good. My first hip was replaced in October 2017 and my second in April this year (2018). On the first occasion, I was cared for by and extraordinary group of individuals; Helen the physio, Donna, Debbie, Adele and Caroline, as well as the night staff, even Bev the cleaner and our afternoon tea lady Linda, were outstanding and all deserve praise for their ongoing patient commitment, kindness and professionalism. They don't ever go an extra mile, they go 100's of extra miles, all the time. Also I must say something about Dr Aneker. She is a very special person and clearly makes a huge personal contribution to the well being of everyone. She is the consummate professional, inspiring, motivational and a true compassionate leader. She is more than outstanding and a total credit to your organisation, as are the other staff I've named above. For my second hip, I was met in reception by Rachel who was extremely welcoming and greeted on the ward by Adele and Christine. they remembered me! it was so reassuring. My lead nurse was Zach, who again reflects all of the standards mentioned above and more. he made a commitment to me that he would be with me all the way to surgery and he was, holding my hand until the anesthetic took over. A real compassion, professional and empathetic man. Christine was again with me, often checking I was alright and making me smile when spirits were low. Again every single person I came into contact with was so caring, positive and motivational, they all made me feel so able. This team are not only outstanding, they deliver excellent care in a challenging environment, without anyone knowing there is any pressure. I count myself as being very lucky to have been cared for at the Spire Alexander and would recommend it to everyone I know.

The hospital failed to book in the agreed operation so I had to call to find out. However, they did add me to the list on the day. Secondly, I was told on the ward that I would have an appointment in 14 days on the Wednesday for stitches to be removed followed by a consultation with Prof Singh immediately after. I was not give the information regarding time and had to ring again only to be told I was to see Mr Singh on the Thursday resulting in my having to change other arrangements. So no information given correctly.

I recently had a hip replacement operation at this hospital and was very impressed with the care and attention of the nursing staff and the physiotherapists. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

Expats need to know that the Spire Alexander Hospital communication system cannot communicate with other non-Spire hospitals. We needed a copy for my wife’s upcoming intervention on her knee. It was not possible to have a copy of the x-ray neither to us, at the moment in the UK, nor to our doctor in in the Kantonspital in Chur, Switzerland. One can only wonder in today’s time and possibilities will happen in a much more serious case, for example when a heart intervention is needed in another European country and Spire Alexander cannot transfer its relevant information to the other hospital. For all expats, watch out!! On top the agent with whom I spoke refused to give me her name, that means it is also impossible to trace any responsible person.

Spoken to by the staff quite rudely. Confidence doesn't exist up there and they're more interested in discharging you early than your health. Was made to leave and wait downstairs after an op on my own rather than let me stay in my room after a big op. Devastated and depressed after left here...

The quality of care I received was excellent at all times and had no faults. I felt that I was valued and was respected as a patient and I had the best care I have ever received and I would recommend this hospital to anyone who is looking for a great hospital. I want to thank all the staff, nurses and doctors who treated me through my visit.

My experience at the Walderslade branch of the Spire health care was the worst I have ever had, you would think going private would be a better experience, but it as left me both depressed and devastated.
