On numerous occasions I have received poor customer service from the reception staff. This has now spanned several years, and in general I do not like having to attend the GP practice due to this. When I face an issue, they are unhelpful and unsympathetic. They provide conflicting information and are prone to pointing to their policies stuck to varies pieces of furniture instead of explaining them calmly. I find it very difficult to secure appointments and was treated particularly badly this week when I attended the practice. I have made a formal complaint to the NHS regarding a particular incident and I am hopeful that I will receive at least an acknowledgement and apology.

First I must say I find all the GPs at the surgery to be caring, compassionate and involve me in decisions regarding my or my children's care. The main issues are: 1. getting an appointment and 2. attitude of the practice manager. It is extremely difficult to get an appointment as you need to ring at 08:30 for an appointment. The line is always engaged at that time because everyone is trying to ring at the same time, so by the time you eventually get through ,all the appointments for the morning is taken. You then get asked to call back in the afternoon at 2:30, and the same situation will repeat itself. This can go on for 2days or more unless you decide to go to A&E. I think this problem can probably be solved by allowing patients to book non urgent, chronic illness or follow-up appointments in advance. I think this would allow acutely ill patients to be seen urgently. The receptionists, except Kathy are impolite and unhelpful. They make me feel like I'm inconveniencing them by attending the surgery. The practice manager is cold, uncompassionate and obstructive. The waiting area is clean and has useful health related information.
