I was very disappointed when told it would take 13 days to get an appointment to see a nurse for a blocked ear. Whilst not life-threatening it was extremely uncomfortable and two weeks felt a long time to wait. I then spoke to a doctor over the phone who insisted I needed to use wax softening drops for 10-14 days prior to an appointment anyway. This is very disconcerting because all pamphlets on wax softening drops state 3-4 days and no longer than 6 days. When I told her the pamphlet did not support 10 days usage, I was accused of questioning her professional judgement. I was left feeling frustrated and have subsequently paid privately to have it sorted as it was making my work very difficult. I am very concerned about being given advice contrary to the pamphlet over the phone without a physical examination. Apart from this disappointing experience I have been happy with the surgery and the medical staff but it would be helpful if they could address the fact that the need for nursing appointments is considerably greater than the availability.

My 4-year-old needed to see a doctor about an ear infection, and on walking into the surgery we were given a cancellation appointment straight away. It was such a relief not to have to wait for a long time with a sick child, so I was very grateful. The doctor who saw us had a lovely manner with my child, and explained everything carefully to me, even taking the time to show me pictures online of what inflamed eardrums look like. I left feeling that I had been given all the information I needed to take care of her, an appropriate prescription, and clear guidance on when/if she might need to be seen again. Thank you very much to both the doctor and the receptionist.

One of the best surgeries I have been with, the reception staff do an excellent job (I am a GP reception supervisor) so I know what they have to put up with but I have heard nothing but professionalism, friendliness and being helpful from them. The GPs are fantastic. I never seem to wait long to be seen but I do make my appointments via Patient Access which I find is really easy and leaves the phone lines free for emergency calls/on the day appointments and for people who do not have Internet. It also helps me to plan ahead. I do wish there was Saturday clinics even if once a month.

My daughter was prescribed the wrong amount of medicine , apparently the administration staff are in charge of repeated prescription however the doctor didn't check it and my daughter could have suffered fatal side effects . Luckily our regular pharmacist noticed the mistake in the dosage and type of medicine and pointed out to me. When i went back in panic and reasonably upset for their negligence they were accusing me of being overreacting and were abusive to me , one of the managers said "your daughter is still breathing so what is all this about?" My daughter could have been dead because of what they did, and they did not apologise or either felt remorseful for the way they handled it... In addition they did not acknowledge their error! Terrible receptionists as well , no empathy !

During peak-times e.g 8am-10am and afternoon surgery, staff on front desk should not be taking calls, as when patients make appointments it leads to conversations about other issues and so keeps the member of staff on the phone longer and other callers and patient at front desk waiting longer, which is very frustrating. Otherwise, the administration team as the most helpful and professional I have met. The Doctors do not rush you and sometimes if there is a delay they always apologise.
