From reception staff through to ward nurses, staff at Winfield Hospital always show care and compassion, making a visit, whether long or short, more comfortable than to other medical facilities in the county. The admission procedure was handled efficiently and I was immediately shown to my room without having to wait elsewhere in the building. The care given during the procedure was of an equal standard with friendly smiles and continual enquiries as to whether I was comfortable during the whole of my stay which put me at ease. The only slight critical suggestion I would make is with regard to the discharge procedures which were somewhat haphazard. Not being able to drive following discharge I was obliged to arrange for a taxi to take me home. Due to the length of the journey it was necessary for me to telephone some time in advance to arrange my collection which was delayed for some time following the original estimated time advised. This was as a result of the pressure of work on the staff handling the discharges of the patients who are not to be criticised personally - perhaps the procedure could be better organised ?
