I will try and keep it as short as possible. I had thick sticky phlegm at the back of my throat for almost 6 years and after seeing 2 ENTs they could not find what was causing it so I went to my GP and insisted of having an X ray 2 days after the x ray my GP called me in to tell me that they found a shadow in my left lung, I was then quickly referred to Barnet General Hospital for an urgent examination, from there I had 2 CT scans then a Pet-CT scan which showed an active nodule in my left lung which was 20.0mm. then I was taken for a lung biopsy which proved positive to be cancerous, after that I had an e-bus which confirmed all the diagnosis. I was then referred to surgeon MR. Martin Hayward who specializes in this field, when I met him I found the Man very pleasant and he explained to me in simple language what was wrong with my lung and what he could do to help me in which I listened very carefully . he gave me a lot of encouragement and said a surgical intervention to take the nodule out would be the best option in my case so I trusted Mr Hayward and I asked how long would I have to stay in the Hospital he said to me 3 days. So I went ahead with the procedure which was done in the Heart Hospital in Westmorland street. by Mr Hayward and his Registrar. I was taken into the operating theatre on Monday morning around 8.15 and it was over after 2.5 hours. When I was woken up a few hours after I had almost No pain, on Tuesday morning I saw the Registrar and he said to me that everything went according to plan and I would probably be able to go home on Wednesday of which I did, while in the Hospital I found all the Nurses and staff very friendly and happy which made my stay very pleasant. Special thanks to Nurse Anthia with her fantastic Jamaican accent who was giving most of the orders in the ward also to Nurse Zoe who has a lovely smile and makes your day. Finally my best thanks to Mr. Martin Hayward who probably without him I would have not been alive and able to write this letter. All in the Hospital is very good the only thing in my opinion that needs to be done is Air-conditioning.
