All staff were extremely friendly and helpful and could not do enough for us, especially my appointed midwife, Deborah Golzar, who helped to deliver my baby. However facilities on the ward do need greatly improving. A lot of the furniture was damaged and dated and, through no fault of the staff, I had been allocated 2 different rooms with no TV before finally being moved to a better room. I had to stay in hospital for 2 nights, along with my husband. I feel that better facilities could be provided for families e.g. better sleeping facilities for husbands/partners rather than them having to endure an uncomfortable night in an armchair. Also better catering facilities for families and visitors would be a good idea as there is nowhere on the ward to make your own beverages and I did not feel it fair to keep bothering to already busy staff to go and make one every time we were thirsty. Overall I would not say I had a bad experience in the ward but I do feel families in for longer stays could be better catered for.
