During my 3 week stay I along with the other patients were left to our own devices. Nurses sat in the office all day with the door shut and most health care staff sat together in a corner chatting. Most staff Diddnt even attempt to engage with patients or talk to them. There was no opportunity to discuss how you were feeling and upon asking to speak to staff I was repeatedly told "later", that later never came. I Diddnt even know who my named nurse was untill 3 days before I left, thwy only made themselves clear then because they were required to discuss my discharge with me. The ward rules state weekly meetings with your named nurse, that Diddnt happen for any patients. The worst part was the consultant, Dr Agell. There truly is no way of describing this man, it wasnt juat that he lacked compassion, he completely lacked emotion! You were never in a meeting with him for longer than 3minutes,he wanted you in and out as quickly as possible with no care for how you felt. He did not listen to patients, repeatedly stated he knew better despite having met patients for no longer than 10 minutes across their whole stay. And he would take patients off medication with no warning and non conversation, medication that was helping, leaving patients to go into complete crisis. I have since found out from a consultant psychiatrist In the community that he is famous for doing this and has a reputation for his lack of care. I would not reccomend him if he was the last consultant on earth. This unit is simply a place they put you in, do nothing and then discharge you a week later. The only members of staff who made any effort to care and help were the assistant psychologists who sadly only came for half an hour every few days, the occupational therapist and a couple of nurses.
