Overall, The Early Pregnancy Unit was very good to us on our visit and are taking the utmost care of my wife. I was however disappointed with a couple of things and unfortunately they both refer to one person. To tell a woman who might be miscarrying their baby, midway through an internal ultrasound, "if you remember what I said at the beginning of your examination" in a fairly patronising tone wasn't needed. Secondly, when dealing with a pregnancy of unknown location where the woman has experienced bleeding and you have been unable to identify whether there is a viable foetus or not, why would you say "please wait in the counselling room" and then leave us to wait for a colleague?! We were left wondering why we would need counselling unless it was likely to be a miscarriage - maybe a different name or term for the room would be useful to save others thinking the worst. The person in question I have no doubt is competent at their job but lacked the empathy today that was clearly demonstrated by their other colleagues.
