I was awoken by staff cackling and carrying on in the corridor at 5:30am. Because I told them to shut up I was given a treatment of last resort, I was only on emergency detention and no T4 form was sent to the mental welfare commission. For the next 3 days I was fed nothing other than Haloperidol, Lorazepam and diazepam. I managed to escape their care and go on the run but was then returned. They falsified my medical records to hide the fact I was not fed. This later led to me being misdiagnosed as having a delusional disorder. Such a rare psychiatric disorder that illness of the central nervous system is far more likely the case. Given that 6 months before my section I had been rendered unconscious with a neurotoxic solvent I found my diagnosis hard to believe. After talking to Headway they agreed my doctors had no clue and said they would bypass them and send me to the right people. I now realise the drugs I was given are controversial in head injury, they would have rendered me recklessly unconscious and that’s why I wasn’t fed despite being on constant observation. However since my record says I was given Haloperidol and Lorazepam with little effect. Why would they use ineffective rapid tranquillisation for days on end, the policy states if it had little effect the patient is to be given another dose one hour later so why didn’t they redose me? It was done under common law so someone’s life had to be in immediate danger. The management is corrupt as it comes there - no wonder it is a failing hospital.
