After nearly 40 years in psychiatric care, tasting mental hospital life first at age 12 or so, as was my fortune in 70s-England, I can appreciate as much as any other user how lonely it can feel. Without going into detail about myself, its worth pointing out that after being diagnosed, you no longer have the right to refuse to go into a mental hospital. Should you be unlucky enough to be placed into one, for example whilst on the way to the shop to get bread(as I was not long ago), well the outcome of that may as well be searched for amoungst the stars.Anyway all of that is just stuff-what is hard is when you are treated unkindly, criticized on your manner-for example. Not everyone in the world is mean but when a receptionist on the outpatient line tries taking down a vulnerable woman(my wife),by telling her she is aggressive- in short that is what is wrong with the world-bullies. Some workers have forgotten that many, many of the people that they are lucky enough to spend time with, even just on the phone, might not be as fortunate as they are, and though it may not seem even to be noticed- benefit greatly from gentle care. It's a little thing, but rewarding, to help someone who is struggling-which we all have the power to do sometimes-so I hope that this has been a good read.......and good luck.
