My mother was left on her own in a corridor with a head injury covered in blood for over an hour. She was brought in by ambulance. I was not informed if anything or allowed to see her. When I asked why she was in the corridor and if I could accompany her so at least she had someone with her the nurse at reception told me I should count myself lucky she was in the corridor and not a cubicle. I was then finally invited in. Only to be followed by the same nurse in the reception, accused of breaking in to the patients area and threatened with removal via security. My mum was completely distraught. She was also kept in much longer than warranted because of her high blood pressure. I have no doubt that this contributed to it. The rest of the staff treated her with dignity and respect. But the admin process, waiting and reception treats patients and relatives like animals. My mum is elderly and we are in and out of hospitals a lot. This is by far the absolute worst practice I have seen.
