Unfortunately I had an unpleasant experience with one of the phlebotomists who was very rude and told me that I was late for my blood test. I had just received devastating news of a cancer diagnosis so had been trying to take in this news and was talking to one of the nurses who was offering her support and advice. Whilst I understand that there may be patients who do not turn up for their appointments on time, or fail to turn up at all, it’s imperative that all staff need to be compassionate. It exacerbated what had already been a very distressing day. On the other hand, the surgeons and the nurses were extremely kind and the care I received from them was exceptional. They took their time to explain procedures and results and I never felt rushed. I also want to mention all the lovely staff at Heatherwood Hospital, where I had my surgery. They went above and beyond in their care.
