Mr [name removed] and team are amazing, however St Erme ward and some staff were not so helpful. People waiting for a long time for bedpans after surgery and through the night. Medication kept being delayed when the nurse handing out pills was needed elsewhere, at one point the meds trolley was left open & unsupervised. I was left sitting on a bedpan after surgery with no bed alarm buzzer, so I pulled myself up and off using the side bars, which could have caused injury, I wasn't the only one. The next day I was helped into an armchair so that I could have a wash, it wasn't until I turned around I realised there weren't any curtains at the windows, I was being watched by workmen outside, a health care tried to put blinds down but they didn't work. Another lady said she was on a commode being watched by workmen aswell. After being given the ok to go home I waited for someone to remove the canulas in both hands, a young health care went to find a nurse. Then a very abrupt porter came to me and said that I had 5 minutes to get dressed so he could take me to the discharge lounge. I still had the canulas in, hadn't had a wash or dressed, the healthcare came back to help me. The porter pulled the curtains back while I was still getting dressed. He rushed me to lounge and then for 10 minutes sat talking to staff. Very rude and abrupt, he shouldn't be doing that kind of job, I don't know what the rush was all about as I waited for nearly 2 hours to be picked up. St Erme ward had staff that stood in the bay I was in and spoke in a foreign language, fair enough but patients were left wondering what or who they were talking about. I found this quite rude. One poor lady with dementia was talking to them 2hile they were giving her a strip wash and they never spoke to her once, all she needed was a kind voice and reassurance. I've worked for the NHS for 23years and would never have treated my patients the way I was treated. I would be operated on by Mr [name removed] at anytime but not stay on St Erme ward again. I
