I was a patient at the hospital on the 4/3/2024 and was to have a Colonoscopy procedure. I requested sedation for pain relieve. Was informed that another girl was doing it on training but the main professional would be present. Never have i suffered as much pain in all my life. I asked when i would get the jag for pain relieve and was told i had it 15 minutes before. I had seen a clear like water being injected but felt no difference whatsoever. Probably was water. soon into the procedure i felt tremendous pain and grasped the side rail in the hope of getting relieve. I felt to much air was being inserted. The sweat with the pain i endured continued to run off me and a member of staff put a cold wet cloth onto my face which didnt take any pain away. I then due to to pain felt sick and said so, then a sick container was placed at my mouth. I heard saying will we stop. I said yes. Got dressed and went through to another room for some drinks. I was told the script about not signing legal papers, driving etc and staying with some overnight. All a scam to make it appear i did get pain relieve. Well you cant get pain relieve and suffer what i did. While waiting for my pickup a female came in and appeared totally out of it with drugs. She certainly had sedation. She was soon removed from my area as i could see what a sedation person looked like and was led away arm in arm to go for a wee walk away from me. The staff member did say you seem to have had a reaction to the drugs, probably for my benefit. I will be 75 yrs old in a couple of months and feel i could have suffered a cardiac arrest on there table. If you check the internet you can read that some elderly patients may get reduced pain relieve or none and it is better if patients dont ask for sedation as it can bring costs down. Also if your elderly staff can make up stories as the nhs can hide a lot of complaints and try keep them inhouse just like the Royal Mail did but in time the truth comes to the surface. When your elderly you get ignored more. I shall never forget the pain the nhs put me through when it was there job to keep me safe and pain-free. Joseph Robertson
