I have been attending for some time following 2 serious injuries that permanently damaged my wrist, and for which the long term prognosis is not good. I am under the care of a team lead by Ms.Bremner-Smith of the hand management unit, and also the hand therapy team. I have been particularly impressed by the overall approach - staff are realistic about not only the prognosis, but the possibilities. I have been told personally by senior staff that the fact there is no 'fix' and no prospect of one makes it all the more important to ensure that the wrist remains as good as possible for as long as possible. Staff on both teams have put this into action, and continue to make every effort in this. They have also been very clear in recommending what I should do (and not do) myself. They are constructive, courteous, and resourceful. ................................................................................................................................................ These people are great assets to the NHS and to patients - they deserve appreciation and respect. Whilst patients are generally limited to expressing our appreciation with words and tokens, it is politicians who have the power to put their money where their mouths are. (As for the so-called nonexistent 'Magic Money Tree' - it's a matter of priorities - which are too commonly political.)
