I was taken to crosshouse hospital on Tuesday 19 December with broken ankle. Was told I would be going into surgery next day but of course that didn’t happen. Operation finally on the 23rd December by Mr Peter Young (Orthopaedics) from Ayr hospital. Left with pain killers which told me were for 28 days but some of them I only had enough for 12.5 days so someone can’t count. Was in lot of pain and was looking forward to Dr appointment at crosshouse hospital on the 18th January. That was when I got my stitches out which was a nightmare as that was left way too long and was told I should not be there as I should have been at Ayr hospital. The consultant told me to contact my local GP for more pain killers but they could not oblige as my discharge letter from hospital states not to continue medication from GP. Had been attending physiotherapy which was going well the got told I should not be at physio yet as my foot was not weight bearing. I then got appointment for Ayr hospital for 5th of March and it’s as if they could not wait to get you out but was told THEY would contact physiotherapist to get me back on track. Needless to say I have not heard anything since. So all in all the aftercare is an absolute disgrace.
