I have had several stays in hospital over the years due to various problems, unfortunately my last one at The Alexandra Redditch was by far the worst i have experienced. I had two nights when my catheter seperated due to the fact it had not been fitted together correctly, and waited nearly two hours before someone came to see what the bell was being pushed for, when the nurse saw the soaked bed sheets her attitude changed from being abrupt to one of accepting it was a genuine reason for calling her. Another night all the patients in the ward were told we would be moved early evening to anther ward due to some necessary cleaning work which was needed after some cable installation had been done, we were told at approx 9oclock it was too late to move us that night because of patient welfare, but we were actually moved at 11 45 that night, it was a complete and utter shambles with no-one knowing what was going on, the bag to my catheter was left behind so the draining device was just turned off, causing another wait for someone to come and see me ok for the night. After the operation i became constipated and was given tablets to rectify the problem unfortunately this did not work and after three days i was given an enema which i was told would work in about twenty to thirty minutes,it actually worked in about five minutes and no-one was available to take me to the toilet in time,i was left in the toilet to wash myself. I had to throw the soiled items of clothing in the waste disposal bin then wait for another pair of pyjamas so i could go back to the ward. I was told to take tablets i had no idea what they were but put that down to being my fault because i should have asked. The cleanliness of the ward was a disgrace, there were pieces of paper left on the floor, no furniture was moved to clean under it was just swept round it and there was a layer of dust almost everywhere you looked. I am sorry to send such a negative review i do wish it made better reading for you.
