Dr Mani Naghibi’s clinical interests are human nutrition, cancer nutrition, inflammatory bowel, functional bowel disorders and effects of medical treatments on patient’s quality of life. He gained his medical degree at Guy’s Kings and St Thomas’ School of Medicine in London, where he also undertook a second degree in Anatomy and Physiology. While at University he carried out research in the topic of drug delivery to the brain. After university he completed his training in the London and Wessex deaneries, specialising in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine.Mani undertook his sub-specialty training and research at University Hospital Southampton, supported by the National Institute of Health Research Biomedical Research Centre for Nutrition. His Medical Doctorate was awarded on the topic of artificial nutrition for patients with cancer. While working with the Inflammatory Bowel Disease team in Southampton, Mani was awarded the Shire Prize for innovation in Gastroenterology in 2014 for designing and implementing a web-based patient management system, which allows patients to take greater control of their health and medical treatments. He continues his research interests into the effects of artificial nutrition in both cancer and non-cancer patients. He has been invited to presented at national and international conferences and medical courses. Mani is a member of the British Society of Gastroenterology Small Bowel and Nutrition committee. He is also co-author for British Artificial Nutrition Survey reports for adult home parenteral nutrition.
