I am a consultant cardiologist & physician, and also clinical director for the directorate of cardiothoracic medicine at South Tyneside & Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust. I was born and brought up on Tyneside before graduating from medical school in London and completing my cardiology specialist training in the East Midlands. I returned to the North East as a consultant in 2011 and work across South Tyneside District Hospital and Sunderland Royal Hospital. I have specific clinical interests in acute & general cardiology, cardiac rhythm management (pacemaker implantation), and I have additional postgraduate qualifications in health and social care leadership and medical education. In my spare time, I am a lifelong Newcastle United sufferer / supporter & a former non-runner.
